Republicans are shocked: Richard Clarke made his boss, President Bush, look good. The Republicans' main case against Clarke is reduced to painting him as a hypocrite because he praised the Bush Administration while he worked for it. Spin doctoring in Washington? Heaven forbid! Of course, Clarke didn't survive as a high-ranking official in four presidencies without mastering press manipulation and buttering up his employers.
